Hello,
Fueled by a deep commitment to honoring the sacrifices of my ancestors, who dedicated their lives and bodies for my existence, I am enthusiastic about securing a position in New York City. My aim is to delve into the exploration of Asian American and queer people's role in art and culture through the powerful mediums of narrative and visual storytelling.
Dream roles:
Storytelling Director at Chicken & Egg Pictures
Producer’s Assistant
Programs Coordinator: Arts & Pedagogy at The Laundromat Project
Portfolio:
A storyteller at my core,
My diverse background encompasses the intricacies of storytelling—from conducting engaging interviews to the roles of producing, directing, editing, teaching, and coaching. With a sharp eye for impactful narratives I have cultivated a skill set with an unyielding passion for the art of storytelling.
I am a curator of moments weaving emotions and guiding through the intricate pathways of human experiences. My proficiency in discerning the essence of a compelling story, coupled with a commitment to excellence, sets me apart.
Across various mediums, be it behind the camera, in the editing suite, or in the classroom, I consistently connect with audiences, leaving a lasting impression. I am eager to contribute my multifaceted skills to a dynamic and creative environment. I am not merely looking for a job; I am searching for a platform where my passion for storytelling can thrive, where each project is an opportunity to craft narratives that captivate, resonate, and linger in the hearts of those who encounter them.
COMPREHENSIVE STORYTELLING
As part of an ongoing ancestral exploration aimed at understanding my identity as an Asian American, I have authored a book currently seeking a home. Additionally, I pitched a trailer to the Sundance Film Institute and was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship for their Visual Storytelling course. An excerpt from my work, "Ancestral Flow," presented as a series, was recognized by being longlisted for the Kinship anthology through Renard Press.
FILM
Experienced in producing, directing, and editing. I have skillfully crafted compelling narratives in diverse projects, including:
pioGaetano: a short documentary about a queer opera singer who also made my weekly coffee.
Loduca: a private commission to capture the wisdom of 90 year old Sicilian, Phil Loduca.
Trovatelli: a film documenting Krystal Meisel’s search for her ancestral ties in Palermo.
Code For America: a series of shorts highlighting the varying aspects of volunteering for CFA.

“I’m incredibly nervous about this oral storytelling adventure I’m currently on but Mary has managed to cast some of those nerves aside. I did not know what to expect from our session but I feel like I walked out of it far more confident in my abilities than when I walked in. Mary is an excellent listener and truly knows the right questions to ask to get you to dig deeper into your story. I appreciate her assistance so much! ”
